The card depicts Rodriguez's 500th Home Run and is one of the few I have seen listed that has any color. I tucked it away and recently decided that I would try to see what it was worth. It figured it might shave a bit off my daughter's college tuition. I went to the East Coast National Card Show at the Westchester County Center in White Plains, NY and the opinions I got about the card varied widely. Some thought it was a rare beauty and worth a few hundred dollars at the least. Others, perhaps thinking I might opt to sell it to them, said it might be a $50 card at best. So....I put it on E Bay the other day to see what happens. The problem with a card like this is, you hate to find out later that it was indeed a desired card and that you could have maximized her tuition money!! Well see how the auction goes and I'll report back to you.bmoore4http://www.blogger.com/profile/08075949697454202954noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8808078706030280503.post-17574233507089571692010-08-15T11:58:00.000-07:002010-08-16T16:15:00.976-07:00Who's Paying Attention??

I am trying to get rid of a bunch of my cards and when I recently went to my card hiding place, I found a box of cards that was all sorted in to teams. Some team lots have nearly 100 cards in them and others have closer to 50 cards in them but they all vary in numbers. Some of the lots have cards in them from the 1970's but most are from the 1980's or newer.I want to get rid of these cards and all you have to do is e-mail me your mailing address and I'll send your favorite team to you. What do I want in return? If you can send me some cards of my favorite team, the NEW YORK METS, that would be great. If not, I'll hope to make a trade with you in the future.
I dont see any Mets or Yankees in this box. As a New Yorker. I usually plucked those cards from my bulk boxes first. As the teams disappear, I will post the list of what's available on here. Thanks and happy card collecting!

The followings teams are gone for now with regard to this offer. If you are a collector of these teams, I still have hundreds of thousands of cards I will be digging out in the future.

EXPOS

ASTROS

RAYS/DEVILS RAYS
bmoore4http://www.blogger.com/profile/08075949697454202954noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8808078706030280503.post-82960885580394732010-07-28T06:06:00.000-07:002010-07-28T06:18:50.647-07:00Lets make some trades!!

I have a ton of baseball cards that I'd be willing to trade for Mets cards or other Mets items of interest that you may have. I was actually involved with the baseball memorabilia business back in the mid 1980's while working for Anaconda Sports in New York. At the time, we sold more American and National League baseballs than any Rawlings dealer in the country. Thats when the baseball card hobby was incredibly popular with superstar autograph guests being the norm at most shows around the country.

When the hobby was swamped with baseball cards later in the 1990's, I lost interest in collecting cards and once autograph prizes soared through the roof, I stopped collecting signatures as well.

Over the past few years I have bought baseball cards in all varieties ( rack packs, boxes, packs and individually at baseball card shows. I would revel in the knowledge that I had pulled some good cards but the bottom line for me is that there is little else that I enjoy more than the "lottery" aspect of opening a pack of baseball cards. That anticipation that wonders whther the next card you thumb through will be the next hot rookie, a special premium card or even just a player from your favorite team. Thats feeling of anticipation and excitement still lives in me today!
I have collected off and on for years but I recently had my interest sparked again when my cousin found some cards left in an apartment he had rented. Certainly nothing very valuable but they still bring back many memories and there were a few cards I had never seen before. The pic on this page is just some of the Mets cards in the batch!
Thats enough for now! Coming soon.......the night Mets pitcher Jack Hamilton became my "hero", a look back at the Volpe Sunoco cups, my favorite met, Ron Swoboda and much more!
Happy Collecting!bmoore4http://www.blogger.com/profile/08075949697454202954noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8808078706030280503.post-14939097038321160832010-07-18T16:12:00.000-07:002010-07-19T14:25:03.167-07:00Saying hello!

Just a hello to any followers of my blog. I have dabbled in baseball cards and memorabilia off and on now for more than 25 years. Like most boys, I collected baseball cards growing up and the New York Mets were the object of my affection. I loved those Amazing Mets even before they were anything close to amazing! Ron Swoboda was my favorite player with Tom Seaver following as a close second! I started this blog to start up a collecting network with other collectors. I have a ton of old cards and would be willing to trade for Mets cards and other items that interest me. I also collect baseball announcers and some other odds and ends. From time to time I will post pics of some of the items in my collection or pictures of items that I get in trade.

As for my job. I work at a college on the East Coast and I have been a high school and college sports writer for more than 20 years. I have a 20 year old daughter who has little or no interest in baseball cards!!

Stop by, say hello and let's talk baseball card collecting!!
bmoore4http://www.blogger.com/profile/08075949697454202954noreply@blogger.com8
